MS11-001-001-01 - Mainstays 28" Fire Pit - won't stay lit

This can be related to a couple of different issues:

1. Remove (pull off) the black valve knob next to the ignitor and start the fire pit while depressing and turning the valve stem with your fingers. If this resolves your issue, it means that the black knob is hitting the side panel before the stem can be fully depressed. To remedy, ball up a small piece of paper (this "ball" should be about the size of a small pea) and stuff it in the hole in the plastic knob before pushing in back on the stem. This will keep the knob from sliding down the stem too far and hitting the side panel.

2. It is also possible that the ignition housing is partially blocking the flame directed at the thermocouple. There are 2 screws holding this ignition housing to the burner pan. Remove those screws and lift off the ignition housing. Once removed, start your fire pit as usual. Please be sure to keep this little area clear of rocks. If this resolves the issue then you can operate your fire pit without the ignition housing in place. It's only function is to keep you from burying the two components inside (thermocouple and ignitor) and your fire pit will operate as expected without it.
